October Red is a new WordPress theme I have released in October 2010. The theme is based on the homepage of Web-Design101, though it only has 2 columns instead of 3 (I plan on making a 3 column version next). This might be the absolute smallest WordPress theme around. It’s as lightweight as can be with a very small footprint yet it doesn’t have the look of a minimal theme.
Features of Red October include:

- The smallest WordPress theme around. Check out the included pages and you’ll agree that this has a very small footprint!
- SEO Optimized. Everyone likes to throw those words around with themes these days, but glance through the code and you will agree that this theme is built for speed!
- Eye appealing theme with clean css code that includes proper spacing, padding and borders around images.
This is the first WordPress theme I’ve developed and I found it to be an enjoyable challenge. I’ll definitely be creating new designs in the near future.

I didn’t find a single satisfactory tutorial in my development and ended up using the documentation at WordPress.org as my primary resource.
